Neutering

Our recommendations with regards to neutering

Dogs - We recommend spaying bitches to reduce the possibility of unwanted puppies, mammary tumours and pyometra (infected uterus). This is normally carried out 2 to 3 months after her season has finished. We recommend that male dogs are neutered at around 8 to 12 months old, this will help prevent aggression, straying and prostatic problems.

Cats - We recommend that, if they are physically mature enough, both female and male cats are neutered at 6 months of age. For females, this will prevent unwanted litters of kittens. For males, it will reduce the incidence of spraying, straying and fighting.
